The Acoustic Basement Sessions: Vinnie Caruana - Boy, You're In Heaven

A few weeks ago our buddies on The Acoustic Basement Tour came by our office and performed for us. Check out our first of many videos, this featuring Vinnie Caruana playing an original track off of his new City By The Sea EP, "Boy, You're In Heaven".

Meet Seventy Jane

We recently shot with the tattooed goddess Seventy Jane and got to know her rock n roll self a little bit better. Peep our interview and photo set with Seventy below.

GK: You're a pretty rock n roll lady. How does music influence your lifestyle?

Seventy Jane: Music doesn't just influence my lifestyle, it pretty much IS my lifestyle. As a singer, I draw inspiration from a copious amount of musicians. From my love of early 90's indie bands like Dinosaur Jr and Boys Life (and so many others that I could write an entire interview just listing bands), to my borderline insane obsession with Neil Diamond. Even though I hate to admit it sometimes, I find myself singing out loud to the likes of Kesha and Carly Rae Jepsen. (C'mon you 'love call me maybe' too) I would love to say I could write music to match my love of Depeche Mode, but c'mon. That's impossible. Though I'd fantasize quite often about learning a few stage moves from Dave Gahan... Then of course we'd get married, and run off into the sunset riding unicorns. I digress. Music is my boyfriend, girlfriend, mother, and father.

GK: Speaking of rock n roll, what is your favorite band?

Seventy Jane: Haha that's like asking me to name my favorite shade of black. But I guess if I were stranded on a desert island I couldn't survive without Neil Diamond, Neil Young, and Depeche Mode. Wait. Can Robert Johnson come too??! Aack. Too hard.

GK: What is your favorite fashion trend of the last decade?

SJ: Fashion, fashion, fashion. How I love thee. That's a hard one too! These questions are tough! Ummmm, I love the return of the whole bohemian vibe. I'm a hippie at heart, so I love anything that flows. I love the return of platforms. Studs are great. And I like that fur seems to not be as controversial anymore; or maybe I'm just delusional. I just love that you can wear basically anything you want these days. Everything goes.

GK: Tell us something most people wouldn't know about you!

SJ: I'm an open book, so it's rare to not know something about me. I guess maybe the fact that I have a nerdy, pimpled 13 yr old trapped inside my body. God that sounded better in my head. Haha lets just say on any given day I can keep up a good comic conversation with the best (or dorkiest) of them. And even though comics have become more mainstream these days, as well as tattoos (that's a whole other topic) at least I have a deep rooted background with that world; and the collection to prove it. That said, HULK SMASH!!!!!!
