We recently had the pleasure of working with Ryan and we loved him so much we had to feature him on the site! We love his photos and you should also make sure to check out his creation Nervous Energies
With over 10 years experience in photography, Ryan Russell has shot some of the best names in rock: from Fugazi, Converge, and Against Me! to Paramore, Death Cab For Cutie, Tegan & Sara and even Waka Flocka Flame. Ryan always shoots with the honesty of a moment being the cornerstone for great photographs. Instead of using studio-contrived photographs, Ryan shoots his subjects in real world spots with a single camera and a lens and little to no extra setup involved.
In addition to his photography, he created Nervous Energies in late 2010 filming bands performing acoustic and alternate versions of their songs. Nervous Energies was created on the idea of having a band perform without a bunch of studio mics and camera angles/edits taking away from a great performance. It is filmed with one single shot and one mic showing the raw honesty of an artist performing their songs.
